Boys Hip Hop Class

Age 6+ yrs

Below you will find all information available specific to the Boys Hip Hop class. Remember, information will be updated as it becomes available.

  • Thursday 5pm - 6pm with Eleanor

The event

There will be one performance at 3:30pm. In the morning we’re having a dress rehearsal. To shorten the day, Boys Hip Hop will start later in the morning.

There will be a break for lunch after the rehearsal. All performers are required to remain at the theatre during this time.

The rehearsal and show inevitably involve some waiting around for performers. When not on stage, dancers relax in a dressing room with their classmates.

Dancers need to arrive at the theatre in costume with their hair and makeup done. We will share the running order with students performing in multiple routines ahead of time so they know which costume to arrive in and can be prepared for quick changes.

Drop off and pick up

Drop off: 10:30am, Theatre stage door (Courtyard studio)

Pick up: end of show - approx. 5:45pm, Theatre stage door (Courtyard studio)

All performers need to be signed in and out of the theatre. We are working on a way to make this process as safe and as quick as possible. More information coming soon!

Due to security arrangements and capacity limits in place at Canberra Theatre Centre, parents/guardians will not be allowed to enter the building. Only students, staff, and designated volunteers are permitted backstage.

Students can be picked up from the front of the Courtyard Studio (where they are dropped off) after the conclusion of the show. Our dancers’ safety is paramount. We need to ensure that every student under the age of 18 is collected by their adult. For this reason, the pick-up process will be staggered and may take some time. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

What to pack/bring

1. Enough food and water to get your dancer through the day – lunch, plenty of snacks, and a drink bottle. Note that our studio is NUT FREE, as we have a number of students with life-threatening nut allergies; please do not pack any foods containing peanuts or tree nuts.

2. Something to keep your dancer entertained while they’re not on stage, e.g. reading material, card games, colouring in, devices. Please make sure all items are labelled with the student’s name. Dance Northside takes no responsibility if items are lost.

3. Street clothes for your dancer to put on after the performance – students will be asked to change out of and return the costumes provided to them by Dance Northside before leaving the theatre.

4. If they’re in multiple routines, all of your dancer’s costumes – including any required footwear and undergarments (e.g. white singlet, black leggings)

Clothing to provide from home – plain black t-shirt, plain black pants, black socks

Footwear – black sneakers

Hair – slicked back

Make up information

Makeup is completely optional and should be kept natural and minimal. Dance Northside does not usually advocate for makeup on children, but since we are performing in a lit theatre, we recommend a little bit, so the features of your dancer’s face are not washed out under the bright stage lights. If choosing to wear makeup, our suggestion of what to apply is below:

- Blush

- Brown eyeshadow

- Lip gloss
