When is the concert?
Both concerts are on Saturday 4th July. The Minis and Masters concert will be in the morning, and the Showcase will be at approximately 4:30pm and conclude by 7pm.
How long will my child be at the theatre?
We will stagger arrival times, to prevent a long day for younger children. For example, Kids aged classes will arrive at the theatre at approximately 2pm.
Where is the concert?
The Canberra Theatre - Playhouse.
Which concert is my dancer performing in?
If your dancer is enrolled in any of the Minis classes (4 - 5 yrs) they will be performing in the Minis and Masters morning concert ONLY. The Minis and Masters show has its own tab at the top of this page where all information for Minis families and other classes performing in the Minis and Masters show is located.
If your dancer is in an Advanced class or is a member of the Performance Team they will be performing in BOTH the Minis and Masters concert AND the Showcase.
If your dancer is in a Kids, Junior, Open or Adult class they will be performing in the Showcase ONLY.
What additional fees will I have to pay?
A $55 performance fee per performing student. This fee includes a 20 year commemorative concert t-shirt, your child’s costume for one class and contributes towards insurance, and licensing for the performance. There is an additional $19 costume fee payable for each additional performing class your child is enrolled in.
My dancer is performing in both the Minis and Masters show, and Showcase. Do I have to pay the fee twice?
No, you do not need to pay their performance/costume fee twice!
How can I pay the performance and costume fee?
The performance fee is due Week 2 of Term 2 and will be collected when you complete the concert permission form <link form)
Do I have to buy tickets if I want to see the show?
Yes! Tickets will be available exclusively through the Canberra Theatre Centre website. They go on sale in Week 6 of Term 2. Prices TBA. All ticket sales will incur a booking fee (imposed and collected by Canberra Theatre Centre, not us!).
My dancer is performing in both shows, do I have to come to watch both?
No! Advanced dancers and Performance Team members will be performing the same routines in both the Minis and Masters show and the Showcase. Which show you buy tickets to is completely up to you.
Will the show be professionally filmed and photographed?
Yes! Digital photos and a video will be available to purchase and download. We will have flexible packages available to suit you.
Will I have to sew/construct costumes?
Nope! We will source and create all costumes. However, dancers may be asked to provide some basic items (e.g. black leggings, white singlet).
What about hair and makeup?
The required hairstyles will be simple; makeup is minimal and OPTIONAL.
Which classes are NOT participating?
Adults Zumba.
All other classes will prepare a routine to perform in either the Minis and Masters concert, the Showcase or both concerts (see above).
My dancer doesn’t want to perform, can they still attend class in Term 2?
Yes! Non-performing students are welcome. The focus of Term 2 is concert preparation, but non-performing students can learn the routine for fun alongside the rest of their class.
What if my dancer changes their mind about performing after the term starts?
Students must opt-in and commit to the concert by the end of Week 2, Term 2. After this, we cannot accommodate new performers as they won’t have been allocated a costume.
Can my child change or add classes in Term 2?
Yes, provided it's before the end of Week 2.

Makeup is completely optional and should be kept natural and minimal. Dance Northside does not usually advocate for makeup on children, but since we are performing in a lit theatre, a little bit can highlight your dancers features under stage lights. Our suggestion of what to apply if you choose to is below:
- Blush
- Brown eyeshadow
- Tinted Lip gloss
