Concert Tickets

The event

The Minis are performing at 1pm on Saturday 4 July 2026 at The Playhouse (Canberra Theatre Centre). Minis perform once, in the 1pm show. An intentionally short day for our youngest performers, around two and a half hours from arrival to pick-up.

Dancers arrive at 11:45am and head to their dressing room. From 12:00pm to 12:30pm the Minis are on stage practising finding their positions. The theatre opens at 12:30pm for the audience to find their seats and the show runs from 1:00pm to 2:15pm. When they are not on stage, Minis relax in their supervised dressing room with their classmates, DanceStep leaders, teachers and parent volunteers. At no time will any Mini be left unsupervised, or be alone with any adult or DanceStep leader. 

Dancers need to arrive at the theatre in costume, with their hair and makeup done. Once the performance is completed, dancers will return the costume provided to them by Dance Northside before leaving the theatre. Minis do not need to return anything provided from home and can leave the theatre in these clothes if needed. 

Costumes provided by Dance Northside will be sent home with dancers in week 11. Any uncollected costumes will be taken to the theatre to be given to dancers on the day.

Drop off and pick up

Drop off: 11:45am

Minis will be met at the drop off location by their DanceStep leaders (and teachers where possible).

Every dancer under 18 must be signed in by their parent/guardian. Our sign-in process is being updated for 2026. Full details will be updated here closer to the event and we will let you know once they have been updated! 

Due to security and capacity limits at the Playhouse, parents and guardians are not permitted backstage. Only students, staff, and designated pre-approved volunteers with a current WWVP card can enter the building. If you anticipate your dancer needing you to come into the theatre with them to get them settled we strongly suggest you apply for your WWVP card now. 

We will support all Minis to settle well. If they remain unsettled, we will contact you to let you know. 

Post Performance Pick up: 2:15pm

All performers enter and exit via the drop off location. Please see the Canberra Theatre Centre website for parking and location details.

Our  sign-out process is being updated for 2026. Full details will be updated here closer to the event and we will let you know once they have been updated! 

Every dancer under 18 must be signed out to their parent or guardian, so the pick-up process is staggered and may take a little time.Thank you in advance for your patience as we prioritise the safety of all our performers.

What to pack/bring

1. Enough food and water to get your dancer through the morning– Snacks, and a drink bottle. Note that our studio is NUT FREE, as we have a number of students with life-threatening nut allergies; please do not pack any foods containing peanuts or tree nuts.

2. Something to keep your dancer entertained while they’re not on stage, e.g. reading material, card games, colouring in, devices. Please make sure all items are labelled with the student’s name. Dance Northside takes no responsibility if items are lost.

3. Street clothes for your dancer to put on after the performance – students will be asked to change out of and return the costumes provided to them by Dance Northside before leaving the theatre. Any items provided by you can be kept.

4. If they’re in multiple routines, all of your dancer’s costumes – including any required footwear and undergarments (e.g. white singlet, black leggings)

Make up information

Makeup is completely optional and should be kept natural and minimal. Dance Northside does not usually advocate for makeup on children, but since we are performing in a lit theatre, a little bit can highlight your dancers features under stage lights. Our suggestion of what to apply if you choose to is below:

- Blush

- Brown eyeshadow

- Tinted Lip gloss
