Performance Team dancers will also attend the Friday 3 July 2026 rehearsal.
Friday 3 July is a rehearsal day. Dancers arrive at 4:00pm for theatre orientation and dressing room allocation, then run-through and spacing of all routines on stage until 7:15pm. Dancers are to attend the rehearsal in costume. Makeup and hair is optional.
Saturday 4 July is show day. Dancers arrive at 11:45am and warm up backstage from 12:00pm to 12:30pm while the Minis are on stage finding their positions. The 1pm show runs from 1:00pm to 2:15pm.
*If you are a DanceStep student leader on a Minis class, your focus will be on warming up with Performance Team.
Lunch/tech break: Performance Team dancers remain at the theatre over the break (2:15pm to 3:15pm). Please pack food, water, and quiet activities. From 3:15pm to 3:30pm there is a warm up and finale rehearsal on stage.
The 4pm Show runs from 4:00pm to 6:30pm.
On performance day dancers need to arrive at the theatre in costume with their hair and makeup done.
Once the second performance (Showcase) is completed dancers will return the costume provided to them by Dance Northside before leaving the theatre.
The running order will be shared with dancers closer to the event so dancers in multiple routines know which costume to arrive in.
Costumes provided by Dance Northside will be sent home with dancers in week 11. Any uncollected costumes will be taken to the theatre to be given to dancers on the day.

Due to security and capacity limits at the Playhouse, parents and guardians are not permitted backstage. Only students, staff, and designated volunteers can enter the building.
Every dancer under 18 must be signed out to their parent or guardian, so the pick-up process is staggered and may take a little time. Thank you in advance for your patience as we prioritise the safety of all our performers.
1. Enough food and water to get your dancer through the day – lunch, plenty of snacks, and a drink bottle. Note that our studio is NUT FREE, as we have a number of students with life-threatening nut allergies; please do not pack any foods containing peanuts or tree nuts.
2. Something to keep your dancer entertained while they’re not on stage, e.g. reading material, card games, colouring in, devices. Please make sure all items are labelled with the student’s name. Dance Northside takes no responsibility if items are lost.
3. Street clothes for your dancer to put on after the performance – students will be asked to change out of and return the costumes provided to them by Dance Northside before leaving the theatre.
4. If they’re in multiple routines, all of your dancer’s costumes – including any required footwear and undergarments (e.g. white singlet, black leggings)
5. Makeup and hair styling tools/products, in case touch ups are needed over the course of the day.

If choosing to wear makeup, our suggestion of what to apply is below:
- Foundation
Blush over cheekbone
- Brown eyeshadow - Dark close to lashes. Light/white under eyebrow outer edge
- Black eyeliner
- Black mascara
- Reddish-brown lipstick
